Pet sisters is a non for profit organisation with the sole aim of rescuing homeless animals. The organisation is made of a 7 members team, of which each one of us has worked as a volunteer to the cause for many years. There is a horrendous amount of homeless dogs and cats in Bulgaria. Few are those that neuter their pets, whose newborns get thrown out on the streets, in garbage cans, along roads or unihabited places or alternatively they get into the hands of owners, where they live chained for live and in unimaginably bad conditions.
In order for us to be able to help more animals, we rented a small house with a yard, where we set up a rescue center. There we can accommodate the dogs while they are being prepared for adoption. Due to the fact that the number of homeless animals is too big, we can only help those in the biggest need - babies without mothers, the very sick and the old. Our capacity at the moment is for around 30 dogs. There is a heated space for the babies and a large yard where the dogs car run and roam around freely. We are looking for adoptive families, primarily outside of Bulgaria as it is difficult to find good ones here for mongrel dogs or those that have a disability - damaged hearing and vision, crippled or very old. For the few years that our organisation has been up and running, we have manged to find loving homes for more than 350 of our dogs and more than 100 cats via other organisations in Germany, Austria, Holland and UK. We prefer to work with partner organisation so that we can have visibility and control post adoption - something that is difficult to exercise when working in direct contact with adoptive homes when they are abroad. Our organisation is funded solely from donations and our private funds.
All our dogs are sent healthy, vaccinated, chipped, neutered (if they are of the appropriate age) and with an international passport. We do not take any adoption fee. The most important thing for us is that our furry friends find their loving forever home.
