May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, when we celebrate how Asian and Pacific Islander communities enrich the tapestry of the US. The Mars theme for this month is Ascend Together, and our ARG has chosen to support five highly-rated Asian American non-profit organizations focused on civil rights, legal representation, education and health. Donations to this fund will be evenly distributed to the nonprofits listed here, to support and uplift the AAPI community.

In the US, May is commonly called Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month; however, here at Pinterest, we’re recognizing and celebrating not just Asian American heritage, but the rich diversity of all Asian cultures across the world. For us, this is a global moment to come together in the spirit of community and solidarity, and to create belonging and a safe and positive space. This year our theme is Fulfill Yourself, but let's show everyone how Pinterest can fulfill not only ourselves but also fulfill others by donating whatever you are able to help support the global Asian community.

Lunar New Year is a multi-week event that is considered one of the most important annual celebrations among East and Southeast Asian cultures and communities, though it is celebrated across the globe. Lunar New Year is typically celebrated with wishes for prosperity and good luck in the new year, while spending time with loved ones and paying homage to past generations through a plethora of traditional foods, activities and events. Lunar New Year is the all-encompassing term to represent the vast number of communities that observe the lunar calendar, and traditions vary across cultures. The Lunar New Year Fund was created to spotlight AAPI-led organizations across the country who provide support and resources to Asian-American communities, celebrate and uplift Asian culture, and fight for Asian representation, justice, and equality.
