Lung Cancer Research Foundation
No one wakes up one day & says...“I want to be a lung cancer advocate”…but after the dust settled from losing my mom late 2016, that is exactly what happened to me! Have you or someone you know been impacted by lung cancer & it catches you off guard “she never even smoked”, “she is so young”, “he seems so healthy”, “he’s an ironman”, “how is this even possible”…all the questions that come out.
I’m creating this fund and sharing with you today to 1) educate you, just a little, on being proactive in your health & 2) to ask for your help & support by donating to an amazing cause and in honor of my mom, Nancy Adducci! We can’t bring her back but we can certainly extend the lives of so many people who are living with this awful disease. The smoking stigma negatively impacts lung cancer research funding, which pales in comparison to funding for other major cancers and diseases, here are a few things to make you go hmmmm…
> The #1 MOST important fact about Lung Cancer is that ANYONE can get it
> Smoking is the leading cause of lung cancer BUT…
> Exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, and the leading cause in people who have never smoked. PLEASE consider having your home tested as nearly one in every 15 homes in the US have HIGH radon levels - for more information about radon and testing your home, please visit EPA.gov/radon
> People who have never smoked account for between 20,000 and 30,000 lung cancer diagnoses every year
> About two-thirds of the patients with lung cancer who have never smoked are women, usually young women
> Lung Cancer takes more lives, every year, than breast, colon & pancreatic combined - YET IS THE LEAST FEDERALLY FUNDED...
> Immunotherapy can have a dramatic impact on extending late stage lung cancer patients lives! THIS is what our donations are funding!!
